The Aputure Light OctaDome 120 is a 120cm (approximately 4-foot) octagonal softbox that transforms any Bowens-mount light source into a large, soft area light. Its octagonal shape produces a natural, rounded catchlight in subjects' eyes — preferred by many portrait and interview shooters over rectangular alternatives. Despite its generous surface area, the OctaDome 120 weighs just 1.7kg thanks to its steel wire electrophoresis support rod framework and lightweight, high-temperature resistant fabric construction. The interior is lined with a stone-patterned silver Oxford cloth that maximizes light output through high reflectivity.

Where the OctaDome 120 truly distinguishes itself is in the range of light control it offers straight out of the box. Three diffusion layers are included — a 1.5-stop inner baffle and two interchangeable outer diffusion fabrics rated at 1.5 and 2.5 stops — allowing you to fine-tune the balance between softness and output to match your scene. A 45° fabric grid is also included, giving you the ability to direct soft light precisely onto your subject while keeping spill off backgrounds and set walls. The entire assembly collapses down to 76 x 15 x 3cm and fits into the included handbag, making it a practical addition to location kits where space and weight are at a premium.
