Overview

The Aputure MC Pro is the second generation of Aputure's ultra-compact RGBWW LED panel, engineered to deliver substantially more output from essentially the same pocket-friendly form factor. A redesigned optical system with a tighter 45° beam angle produces 1,585 lux at half a meter (5,600K) — four times the brightness of the original MC — while maintaining excellent color fidelity with CRI and TLCI scores of 96. The full RGBWW LED array covers a color temperature range of 2,000K to 10,000K and reproduces over 90% of the Rec.2020 color space, giving cinematographers and photographers precise, vibrant color mixing for creative and naturalistic lighting alike.

Built for location work, the MC Pro carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, making it one of the few pocket-sized LED panels that can operate confidently in rain or dusty environments. Control is handled via onboard buttons for quick adjustments, the Sidus Link Bluetooth app for wireless fine-tuning and multi-light coordination, or DMX/RDM for integration into larger lighting rigs. Fifteen pre-set lighting effects — plus customizable parameters — are built in for simulating practical sources like fire, TV flicker, and lightning. The internal rechargeable lithium-polymer battery delivers approximately 120 minutes at full output and recharges over USB-C, keeping the kit lean and cable-free on set. At just 247 grams and 108 x 70 x 25mm, the MC Pro slips into a jacket pocket or mounts discreetly in tight spaces where larger fixtures simply cannot go.

Pros & Cons

👍 Pros

  • Four times brighter than the original MC while maintaining a compact, pocket-sized form factor (108 x 70 x 25mm, 247g)
  • Full RGBWW color mixing with a wide 2,000K–10,000K CCT range covers virtually any lighting scenario
  • IP65 dust and water resistance enables confident use in rain, sand, or dusty locations
  • High color accuracy (CRI 96, TLCI 96) ensures faithful skin tones and color reproduction on camera
  • Multiple control methods — onboard, Bluetooth app, and DMX — suit both run-and-gun and multi-light production workflows

👎 Cons

  • Maximum output of 5W limits the panel to accent, fill, or close-range key lighting rather than large-area coverage
  • 120-minute battery life at full power may require spare units or a USB-C power bank on longer shoots
  • The 45° beam angle is relatively narrow, which may not suit users who need wide, soft wash lighting without modifiers
  • No integrated mounting thread larger than 1/4"-20, so rigging onto larger grip hardware requires an adapter
