Overview

The Atomos Ninja V+ builds on the success of the original Ninja V by adding higher-resolution capture support and expanded ProRes RAW recording capabilities in the same compact 5-inch form factor. Its 1920 x 1080 IPS touchscreen reaches 1000 cd/m² of brightness and uses AtomHDR processing to display 10.5 stops of dynamic range, giving cinematographers and camera operators a reliable, daylight-viewable reference monitor that accurately represents HDR content. The touchscreen interface provides quick access to monitoring tools, waveforms, focus peaking, and recording controls without the need for external buttons or menus.

As a recorder, the Ninja V+ captures 10-bit 4:2:2 video in Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHR codecs directly to standard 2.5-inch SATA SSDs, bypassing the compressed internal recording limitations of many cameras. With compatible cameras connected via HDMI 2.0, it can record ProRes RAW at up to 4Kp120, and its architecture supports capture of up to 8K resolution. The HDMI 2.0 output enables pass-through to larger monitors or wireless transmitters, making it a flexible hub in a production signal chain. Powered by a single Sony L-series battery, the Ninja V+ keeps power solutions simple and affordable using widely available NP-F compatible batteries.

  • ProRes RAW recording support at up to 4Kp120 with compatible cameras unlocks high-quality raw workflows
  • Compact 5-inch touchscreen form factor adds monitoring and recording capability without significant rig weight
  • HDMI 2.0 input and output allows simultaneous recording and signal pass-through to larger displays

👎 Cons

  • Only features HDMI connectivity with no SDI input, limiting use with higher-end cinema cameras that output SDI only
  • ProRes RAW recording at 4Kp120 is limited to specific compatible cameras such as the Z Cam E2 series
