The Behringer Neutron is a paraphonic analog semi-modular synthesizer that packs a remarkable amount of synthesis power into an 80HP Eurorack-compatible format. At its core are dual 3340 analog voltage-controlled oscillators—faithful to the legendary VCO design that defined classic analog synthesis. Each oscillator offers continuous waveform blending across five shapes (tone mod, pulse, sawtooth, triangle, and sine), with independent pulse width and tone mod controls that provide extensive tonal range before you even touch a patch cable. The multi-mode voltage-controlled filter offers both lowpass and highpass modes, shaped by two independent ADSR envelope generators for nuanced dynamic control.

Where the Neutron truly distinguishes itself is in its semi-modular architecture. The default internal signal routings mean you can power it on, connect a MIDI controller via USB Type B, and start playing immediately—no patch cables required. But the 56 CV input/output patch points open up a vast playground for custom signal routing, from self-oscillating feedback loops to complex modulation schemes. The built-in BBD (bucket brigade delay) and overdrive circuit add character and spatial depth without requiring external effects. For studio producers, the Neutron serves as a powerful standalone sound source; for modular enthusiasts, it functions as a feature-dense utility module that brings oscillators, filters, envelopes, an LFO, and effects into a single affordable package.
