A short telephoto prime distinguished by its close focusing and perspective control capabilities, the TS-E 90mm f/2.8L Macro from Canon is a tilt-shift lens well-suited for product and tabletop photography. Up to +/- 10 of tilt is possible, for focus control, and +/- 12mm of shift, to adjust perspective and composition, and a tilt-locking mechanism can be used while shooting for more stability.
Complementing the operation of the lens, this L-series prime is also distinguished by its optical design, which features one Ultra-Low Dispersion element to significantly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations as well as one aspherical element to minimize spherical aberrations and distortion. Individual elements also feature an Air Sphere Coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color neutrality.

Pros & Cons
👍 Pros
- Features tilt-shift capabilities with up to +/- 10° of tilt and +/- 12mm of shift, providing advanced perspective control for creative photography.
- Equipped with one Ultra-Low Dispersion element and one aspherical element to significantly reduce chromatic aberrations, color fringing, spherical aberrations, and distortion.
- Air Sphere Coating on individual elements effectively suppresses flare and ghosting, resulting in images with greater contrast and color neutrality.
- The 90mm focal length combined with macro capabilities (0.5x maximum magnification) makes it ideal for detailed product and tabletop photography.
- Includes a tilt-locking mechanism for enhanced stability during shooting, which is crucial for precise adjustments.
👎 Cons
- As a renewed product, it is pre-owned and may not be in pristine condition, though it does include a kit with cleaning accessories.
- The aperture range of f/2.8 to f/45, while versatile, means the lens does not offer an extremely wide maximum aperture for very low light situations.
- The 1.3' minimum focusing distance, while good for macro, might not be as close as some dedicated macro lenses.
- The lens is designed for EF-Mount, limiting its direct compatibility to Canon EF-mount cameras without adapters for other systems.
- The specialized nature of a tilt-shift macro lens means it has a steeper learning curve compared to standard prime or zoom lenses.
