The Cokin P123S Gradual Blue B2 Soft filter is a rectangular graduated color filter designed for the Cokin P-Series holder system. Its primary purpose is to add a controlled blue tone to the upper portion of your image — typically the sky — while leaving the lower portion unaffected. The "B2" density provides a moderate blue saturation that enhances flat or hazy skies without appearing overly artificial, and the soft-edged transition feathers the color gradually so there is no hard line where blue meets clear. This makes the P123S especially well suited for landscape compositions where the horizon is broken by trees, buildings, or mountain ridges.

Manufactured from Cokin's proprietary C39 optical resin, the filter is lightweight and far less fragile than glass equivalents, making it practical for field use. The rectangular shape is a key advantage: because the filter slides vertically within the P-Series holder, you have full control over where the blue gradient falls in your frame — something that circular graduated filters cannot offer. With up to 1 2/3 stops of light reduction in the tinted area, the P123S also helps balance exposure between a bright sky and a darker foreground, reducing the need for exposure bracketing or heavy post-production adjustments.
