Does the Mini 12's automatic exposure actually handle mixed lighting, or do I need to adjust settings manually?
The automatic exposure system does the heavy lifting — it reads ambient light and sets flash output accordingly to avoid the blown-out, washed-out look that plagues cheaper instant cameras. There are no manual exposure controls on the Mini 12, so what you see is what the camera decides. In typical indoor and outdoor conditions, results are reliably well-exposed.
How does close-up mode work, and when should I use it?
Twist the lens ring to the close-up position to shoot subjects between 35–50cm from the camera. The parallax correction adjusts the viewfinder frame so what you aim at is actually what prints — critical at close range where parallax error would otherwise shift the composition. Use it for portraits, food shots, and tabletop scenes.
How long does it take to get a print in hand?
The Mini 12 ejects a print in approximately five seconds. Full chemical development — the image appearing fully saturated — takes an additional 90 seconds. Don't bend the print or expose it to direct light during development.
How many shots does the included film pack cover, and what film does this camera use?
The bundle includes one 10-exposure pack of Instax Mini film. The Mini 12 uses standard Instax Mini format film (54mm × 86mm frame, 46mm × 62mm image area), which is widely available. Additional packs are sold separately in 10- and 20-shot quantities.

Yes — the small mirror beside the lens gives you a reflection to frame yourself before shooting.
