The Furman M-8S is a single-rack-unit power conditioner and sequencer built for professional audio environments where controlled power-up and power-down sequences matter. It provides nine total outlets: six sequenced outlets on the rear panel divided into three groups that power on in succession, two unswitched rear outlets for always-on gear, and one unswitched convenience outlet on the front panel. The sequencing prevents the inrush current spike and audible transients that occur when amplifiers, powered monitors, and processing gear all switch on simultaneously — a common concern in live sound, studios, and installed AV systems.

Power sequencing can be triggered from the front panel momentary switch or from an external source via the rear panel terminal block, which accepts both momentary and maintained contact closures. This makes the M-8S compatible with third-party control systems, remote wall switches, or automation setups. All outlets receive standard-level AC surge protection and EMI/RFI filtering to reduce electrical noise that can introduce hum or interference into sensitive audio signals. Rated at 15 amps, the M-8S handles typical rack configurations comfortably, though racks loaded with multiple high-current power amplifiers may require additional circuits.
