The Latin Percussion LP1443L Lil MT Box Cajon is a downsized percussion instrument designed to bring the authentic cajon playing experience to younger and smaller musicians. Measuring 13" x 11" x 8", it sits at a height and width that allows children to comfortably straddle the instrument and reach the full playing surface of the birch soundboard. That birch front plate is the primary tone-producing element, delivering a warm fundamental bass tone when struck in the center-lower area and a sharper, higher-pitched slap near the top edges.

Internal snare wires press against the back of the soundboard to add a characteristic buzzy rattle on higher strikes, giving young players access to the two essential cajon voices — bass and snare — without any additional setup. The body is made from eco-board, a composite material that keeps the instrument lightweight and more environmentally friendly than solid exotic hardwoods.
