Overview

The AVMATRIX HVS0402U is a compact, metal-bodied 4-channel HDMI video switcher designed for live streaming, event production, and presentation environments. It accepts four HDMI inputs with automatic format detection, eliminating the need to manually match resolutions across sources. The switcher provides two HDMI outputs that can be configured as program (PGM), multiview, clean PGM, preview (PVW), or auxiliary feeds routed from any of the four inputs. A USB 2.0 Type-C port enables direct streaming to a computer, allowing the unit to function as both a switcher and a capture device for streaming software.

Where the HVS0402U stands out from simpler switchers is its professional feature set. The physical T-Bar allows operators to manually control transition speed, complemented by AUTO and CUT buttons and a selection of transition effects including nine wipe patterns, mix, dip, freeze, and fade to black. Keying capabilities include both chroma key and luma key for background removal, two independent picture-in-picture layers with adjustable size and positioning, downstream keying, and logo overlay imported from a USB flash drive. Two 3.5mm stereo audio inputs provide microphone or line-level audio mixing, while a DB-15 tally port supports external tally light systems. The multiview output displays all four inputs alongside program, preview, and status information on a single monitor, giving operators full visual awareness during a live production.
