Yes. The McKenna XL click-lock system is designed to float over most existing hard surfaces — tile, wood, concrete, and vinyl — as long as the surface is flat and structurally sound. Lippage over 3/16" should be addressed before laying.
Are these planks truly waterproof, or just water-resistant?
Truly 100% waterproof. The rigid core LVT construction doesn't swell or absorb water, and the IXPE underlayment layer is also non-absorbent, making these planks safe for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements.
How thick is the wear layer, and how does that translate to durability?
The 12MIL wear layer is a solid mid-tier commercial-grade thickness. It resists everyday scratches, pet claws, and furniture drag noticeably better than entry-level 6MIL products, though it won't match 20MIL commercial-grade planks in high-traffic retail settings.
Does the IXPE underlayment eliminate the need for a separate underlayment purchase?
Yes. The IXPE layer is pre-attached to each plank, providing both sound dampening and a moisture barrier. You do not need to purchase or install a separate underlayment.
What is the plank coverage per pallet, and is the pallet sold as a unit?
Each pallet covers 1,077.12 square feet and contains 288 pieces. The product is sold by the pallet at that coverage rate, so measure your project and account for 10% waste before ordering.
