The rigid core handles minor undulation, but a significantly uneven wood subfloor will cause the click-lock joints to stress and potentially gap over time. Light sanding of high spots is recommended if the hardwood has worn unevenly.
What does the 12 MIL wear layer mean for long-term durability in a kitchen?
12 MIL is a heavy residential wear layer — it resists scratching from chair legs, dropped utensils, and pet claws significantly better than 6 or 8 MIL products. In a kitchen environment with normal foot traffic and spills, 12 MIL typically lasts 15–20 years before the surface shows meaningful wear, assuming standard furniture pads are used.
Does the integrated IXPE underlayment eliminate the need to buy separate underlayment?
Yes. The IXPE sound-reduction underlayment is factory-bonded to the back of each plank. Do not install additional foam underlayment beneath this product — stacking underlayment creates excessive cushion that destabilizes the click-lock joints and can cause them to disengage under load.

Yes. The planks are 100% waterproof and the IXPE backing does not absorb moisture. Below-grade installation is a suitable application, provided any active water intrusion through the slab is addressed before installation — no floating floor should be installed over a wet or actively seeping slab.
