Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, provided the hardwood is flat and secure — no loose boards, major cupping, or gaps deeper than 3mm. The rigid core handles minor undulation, but a significantly uneven wood subfloor will cause the click-lock joints to stress and potentially gap over time. Light sanding of high spots is recommended if the hardwood has worn unevenly.
12 MIL is a heavy residential wear layer — it resists scratching from chair legs, dropped utensils, and pet claws significantly better than 6 or 8 MIL products. In a kitchen environment with normal foot traffic and spills, 12 MIL typically lasts 15–20 years before the surface shows meaningful wear, assuming standard furniture pads are used.
Yes. The IXPE sound-reduction underlayment is factory-bonded to the back of each plank. Do not install additional foam underlayment beneath this product — stacking underlayment creates excessive cushion that destabilizes the click-lock joints and can cause them to disengage under load.
Yes. The planks are 100% waterproof and the IXPE backing does not absorb moisture. Below-grade installation is a suitable application, provided any active water intrusion through the slab is addressed before installation — no floating floor should be installed over a wet or actively seeping slab.
A miter saw or circular saw handles straight cuts. A jigsaw is needed for notching around door casings and pipe penetrations. A tapping block and pull bar (available at any home center) are needed for seating the click-lock joints without damaging the plank edges.
