Can these planks be installed in a basement that occasionally gets minor moisture seepage?
The planks themselves are 100% waterproof and the IXPE underlayment won't absorb water, so they're rated for below-grade installation. However, if your basement has active water intrusion, address the source before installing any flooring — standing water under a floating floor will eventually cause issues regardless of the plank material.
How does the 7.13" x 48" plank size compare to standard LVT, and does it affect installation difficulty?
This is a standard mid-size LVT plank — narrower and shorter than XL formats. It's easier to maneuver in tighter spaces like hallways, bathrooms, and closets, and produces fewer offcuts in irregularly shaped rooms. Layout and cutting are straightforward with a utility knife and straight edge or a miter saw.
Does the click-lock system require any special tools or adhesive?
No adhesive is needed. The 4-sided interlock snaps together by hand or with a tapping block and pull bar — standard floating floor install tools. No specialty equipment required.
What subfloor flatness is required before installation?
Industry standard applies: the subfloor should be flat within 3/16" over 10 feet. High spots should be ground down, low spots filled with floor leveling compound. The rigid core won't flex to compensate for significant unevenness the way softer vinyl can.
Is a separate moisture barrier or underlayment required?
No. The IXPE underlayment is pre-attached to every plank. It handles both sound reduction and acts as a moisture barrier, so no additional underlayment is needed.
