Pros & Cons
👍 Pros
- Solid metal cold shoe construction holds a full-size speedlite securely without flex, unlike plastic alternatives that can crack under repeated use.
- Standard 1/4"-20 thread connects to virtually any light stand, tripod, umbrella holder, or flash bracket without additional hardware.
- Two-pack with two included screws provides immediate redundancy — one for a key light stand, one for a fill or background position.
- Compact and lightweight enough to live permanently in a flash bag without adding meaningful weight or bulk.
- Compatible with the widest range of shoe-mount speedlites across Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, and third-party brands.
👎 Cons
- No electrical contacts — does not pass TTL, HSS, or any communication signals between flash and triggering system, requiring a separate wireless trigger for off-camera TTL work.
- Sony multi-interface shoe flashes are explicitly incompatible and will not seat in the standard cold shoe.
- The cold shoe locking mechanism is friction-based; on some speedlites with worn shoe feet, the flash may require a secondary securing method to prevent rotation under directional pressure.
- The 1/4" threading is the only mount option — no 3/8" adapter is included for larger professional stands that use the wider European thread standard.
