Overview

The NiSi Swift FS ND16 is a 67mm neutral density filter that reduces light transmission by exactly 4 stops (1.2 density), giving photographers and videographers precise exposure control in bright conditions. What sets it apart from conventional ND filters is its Full Spectrum (FS) technology, which accounts for both ultraviolet and infrared light. Standard ND filters often allow IR contamination that produces unwanted magenta or red color casts, especially at higher densities. The FS ND16 neutralizes this, delivering true-to-life color rendition that requires little to no correction in post-production.

Physically, the filter is part of the NiSi Swift system — a modular press-on ecosystem where filters attach to a base mount via friction rather than screw threads. This means no cross-threading, no stuck filters, and significantly faster swaps in the field. The FS ND16 can be mounted on its own using a Swift Adapter, or stacked on top of a 67mm Swift True Color VND for an extended density range. The glass itself is high-definition optical glass treated with NiSi's Pro Nano Multi-Coating for waterproofing, scratch resistance, and anti-reflective performance. It is worth noting that the filter cannot be used independently of the Swift system — a Swift base is a required separate purchase.

Key Features

Compatible with Swift Base mounts: 67mm Swift True Color VND (creating a 9-5 stop) or on it's own as a 4-Stop using a Swift Adapter with a 67mm Swift Mount. This filter will also stack on top of other 67mm Swift filters. Will not mount to a camera without a Swift Base.

This high-quality neutral density filter provides a 4-stop (1.2 density) light reduction, ensuring controlled exposure in bright conditions.

Features Full Spectrum Neutral Density (FS ND) technology, this ND filter eliminates unwanted color casts from UV and IR light, ensuring true colors in every shot

High definition optical glass with NiSi Nano Coating - waterproof, scratch resistant, and easy to clean

Part of the Swift press-on filter system. Compatible with the NiSi Swift System, this ND filter features a friction-mount design that securely attaches to a Swift base (True Color VND or Swift adapter) without threads.

Pros & Cons

👍 Pros

  • Full Spectrum ND technology eliminates color casts from UV and infrared light
  • Friction-mount press-on design allows fast filter changes without threading
  • Pro Nano Multi-Coating makes the glass waterproof, scratch-resistant, and easy to clean
  • Can be stacked with the Swift True Color VND for extended density range
  • High-definition optical glass maintains image sharpness across the frame

👎 Cons

  • Requires a NiSi Swift base mount purchased separately — cannot attach directly to a lens
  • Only available in 67mm, requiring step-up rings or additional Swift adapters for other lens sizes
  • 4-stop fixed density offers no adjustability on its own
  • Not compatible with standard threaded filter systems from other manufacturers

Frequently Asked Questions

No, this filter requires a NiSi Swift base — either a Swift True Color VND or a Swift Adapter with a Swift Mount — to attach to your lens. It cannot mount directly to lens threads.
Full Spectrum Neutral Density means the filter corrects for both UV and infrared light contamination, preventing the color casts that conventional ND filters can introduce at higher densities.
Yes, stacking the FS ND16 on a 67mm Swift True Color VND creates a combined 9 to 5-stop variable ND range with additional fixed 4-stop reduction.
The filter presses onto a Swift base using a secure friction fit, so there are no threads to cross or jam. It attaches and detaches quickly, which is useful when changing filters in the field.
Yes, NiSi's Pro Nano Multi-Coating is applied to both surfaces, providing waterproofing, scratch resistance, and anti-reflective properties on each side.
