Overview

The Radial Reamp HP is a passive reamping device that takes a recorded line-level signal from your DAW or audio interface and converts it to instrument level, allowing you to run previously tracked parts through amplifiers, stompboxes, and other outboard gear. This opens up significant creative flexibility in the mixing stage—you can experiment with different amp tones, dial in effects, or completely reshape a part long after the original performance was captured, all without re-tracking.

At the heart of the unit is a custom isolation transformer that handles impedance conversion while breaking the electrical ground between your recording interface and the amplifier. This eliminates the ground-loop hum that commonly plagues reamping setups. A dedicated ground lift switch provides additional control if noise issues arise. The inclusion of both 1/4-inch and 3.5mm inputs means you can feed signal from a professional interface or directly from a laptop or phone headphone output. Because it is entirely passive, there are no batteries to replace or power supplies to manage—just patch it in and go.

Pros & Cons

👍 Pros

  • Passive design requires no power supply, keeping the signal path simple and noise-free
  • Built-in isolation transformer prevents ground loops between interface and amplifier
  • Dual input options with both 1/4-inch and 3.5mm jacks add flexibility for different source devices
  • Ground lift switch provides a quick fix for hum when connecting mismatched gear

👎 Cons

  • Passive circuit means no gain control, so very low output signals cannot be boosted at the box itself
  • Single-channel design requires a second unit if you need to reamp stereo tracks simultaneously
  • Does not function as a standard DI for going from instrument to mixer—it is reamping-only

Frequently Asked Questions

It converts a line-level recorded signal from your audio interface back to instrument level so you can feed it through guitar amps, bass amps, or effect pedals for re-recording.
No. It is a fully passive device that uses a transformer to convert and isolate the signal, so no external power source is needed.
It accepts both 1/4-inch and 3.5mm inputs, making it compatible with professional interfaces as well as laptops and mobile devices.
The ground lift disconnects the ground path between the source and the amp, which eliminates hum and buzz caused by ground loops during reamping.
