Overview

The Samsung XND-6080V is a Wisenet X series indoor dome camera built on the Wisenet 5 chipset, delivering 2MP Full HD video at up to 60fps with WDR disabled or 30fps with its 150dB Wide Dynamic Range engaged. Its motorized 4.3x vari-focal lens (2.8~12mm) covers fields of view from 119.5° down to 27.9°, and because the lens is motorized, operators can adjust zoom and focus remotely through the camera's web interface or VMS — eliminating the need to physically access the dome after installation. Dual SD card slots allow on-camera edge recording with redundancy, and support for H.265 compression means stored and streamed footage consumes roughly half the bandwidth of equivalent H.264 streams.

Beyond core imaging, the XND-6080V includes built-in advanced video analytics and sound classification, enabling functions like virtual tripwires, intrusion detection, and audio event detection without third-party software. Additional features include True Day/Night switching with an IR cut filter, Hallway View mode for vertical corridor monitoring, Highlight Compensation (HLC), Defog detection, and Digital Image Stabilization (DIS). The dome housing carries an IK08 vandal-resistance rating, and the camera accepts both 12VDC and PoE power, simplifying cabling in most installations.

Pros & Cons

👍 Pros

  • 150dB Wide Dynamic Range handles extreme lighting contrasts better than most competing dome cameras.
  • Motorized vari-focal lens allows remote zoom and focus adjustment from 2.8mm to 12mm without physical access.
  • Dual SD card slots provide redundant on-camera storage for edge recording.
  • H.265 compression cuts bandwidth and storage needs roughly in half compared to H.264.
  • Built-in advanced video analytics and sound classification reduce the need for separate analytics software.

👎 Cons

  • Maximum resolution is 2MP, which may be insufficient for large areas where higher-resolution identification is needed.
  • Frame rate drops from 60fps to 30fps when WDR is enabled, limiting smooth motion capture in high-contrast scenes.
  • IK08 vandal resistance is moderate and may not withstand determined physical attacks compared to IK10-rated housings.
  • Indoor-only design with no weatherproof rating, so it cannot be deployed in outdoor or exposed environments.
  • The motorized lens and analytics features place this at a higher price point than fixed-lens 2MP dome alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

It features a motorized vari-focal 4.3x lens (2.8~12mm) providing a field of view from 119.5° to 27.9°, adjustable remotely without opening the dome.
Yes, it has dual SD card slots for on-board recording, providing redundancy and extended local storage capacity.
The camera supports H.265, H.264, and MJPEG compression, with H.265 offering significantly reduced bandwidth and storage requirements compared to H.264.
The 150dB WDR allows the camera to capture clear detail in scenes with both very bright and very dark areas simultaneously, such as a lobby with large windows. Note that WDR on limits the frame rate to 30fps.
It supports both 12VDC and Power over Ethernet (PoE), so you can run a single network cable for both data and power.
