Strengths & Trade-offs

👍 Pros

Specifically designed to fit the Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM lens, ensuring perfect compatibility.
Helps to prevent unwanted flare and ghosting by blocking stray light from entering the lens.
Contributes to improved image contrast and saturation by shielding the lens from oblique light sources.
Offers physical protection to the front element of the lens against accidental bumps or scratches.
Made by Sigma, ensuring it meets the aesthetic and functional design standards of their lenses.

👎 Cons

The lens hood is specifically for the Sigma 135mm F1.8 DG HSM lens, making it incompatible with other lens models.
Adding a lens hood can slightly increase the overall length and bulk of the lens, which might affect portability.
If not stored properly, the lens hood itself can be susceptible to scratches or damage.
The diameter of 82mm is noted, but this is likely the filter thread diameter the lens hood is designed for, not its own diameter, which could be misread.
Being a dedicated accessory, it represents an additional cost on top of the lens purchase.
