Sony SSCSE Dolby Atmos Enabled Surround Sound Speakers

The Sony SSCSE Dolby Atmos Enabled Speakers are purpose-built to add height channels to a home theater system without requiring ceiling-mounted hardware. Each speaker uses a 4-inch mica reinforced cellular woofer angled upward to bounce sound off the ceiling, creating the overhead audio effects that Dolby Atmos soundtracks are designed to deliver. With a frequency response of 70 Hz to 32,000 Hz and 6-ohm impedance, the SSCSE handles the mid-to-high frequency content that makes up most Atmos height information. The pair handles up to 100W maximum input power per speaker, which is adequate for the height channels in a typical living room setup.

Placement flexibility is a key strength of the SSCSE. The speakers are designed to sit directly on top of Sony's SSCS3 floor-standing or SSCS5 bookshelf speakers, and the compact 7.1" x 7" x 5.7" footprint keeps them unobtrusive. For rooms where top-of-speaker placement isn't practical, included wall mount brackets allow the SSCSE to double as surround speakers mounted at ear level or above. At just 1 pound each, they won't stress shelves or wall mounts. When combined with the full Sony CS speaker lineup — SSCS3 towers, SSCS8 center, SSCS5 bookshelves, and SACS9 subwoofer — the SSCSE completes a 5.1.2 Atmos configuration that brings cinematic spatial audio into the home.
