Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary purpose of the Tiffen 62 to 67 Step Up Filter Adapter Ring?

The primary purpose of this adapter ring is to allow you to use a 67mm filter on a camera lens that has a 62mm filter thread, effectively "stepping up" the filter size.

What material is this filter adapter made from?

This filter adapter ring is constructed from lightweight aluminum, which makes it easy to handle without adding significant weight to your camera setup.

Can I use this adapter to attach a 62mm filter to a 67mm lens?

No, this is specifically a "step up" adapter from 62mm to 67mm. It is designed to allow larger filters to be used on smaller threaded lenses, not the other way around.

How does this adapter help photographers save money?

By allowing you to use a single set of 67mm filters on multiple lenses, including those with a 62mm thread, it can reduce the need to purchase duplicate filters for different lens sizes.

Is this adapter difficult to attach or remove from a lens?

The product is described as "easy to use," suggesting that attaching and removing the adapter from your lens should be a straightforward process.

Strengths & Trade-offs

👍 Pros

Constructed from lightweight aluminum, making it easy to handle and transport without adding significant bulk.
Enables the use of a single set of filters across multiple lenses, potentially saving costs on buying duplicate filters.
Designed for straightforward application, making it simple for users to attach and detach from lenses.
Allows lenses with a 62mm front thread to accept 67mm filters, broadening filter compatibility.
Specifically engineered as a step-up adapter, providing a clear function for expanding filter options.

👎 Cons

Its specific 62mm to 67mm size means it is not a universal adapter and will only work for those specific thread sizes.
The lightweight aluminum construction, while convenient, may not offer the same robust durability as heavier-duty materials in certain conditions.
Only serves to adapt to a larger filter format, meaning it cannot step down to smaller filter sizes.
The primary function is filter adaptation, so it does not offer any optical improvements or other lens features.
Requires users to ensure their existing lens and desired filter thread sizes match this adapter's specifications.
