The Universal Audio Apollo X8 is an 18 x 24 Thunderbolt 3 audio interface designed for professional music production studios that require the highest standard of audio conversion and onboard processing. At its foundation is elite-class 24-bit/192 kHz A/D and D/A conversion that captures and reproduces audio with exceptional clarity and dynamic range. The built-in HEXA Core UAD processing engine allows producers and engineers to track through UAD plug-in emulations — including models of classic analog compressors, EQs, tape machines, and reverbs — at near-zero latency, regardless of the DAW's audio buffer size. This means performers hear a fully produced monitor mix while recording, without the latency that typically accompanies plug-in processing.

The Apollo X8 features 4 Unison-enabled mic/line preamps that go beyond conventional digital modeling. Unison technology dynamically adjusts the preamp's analog impedance and gain staging to match the behavior of emulated hardware from Neve, API, Manley, SSL, and other iconic brands, delivering an authenticity that starts at the hardware level. The interface supports selectable +24 dBu operation for compatibility with professional mixing consoles and tape machines, and includes a surround monitor controller supporting formats up to 7.1. Front panel controls provide quick access to Alt Speakers, a built-in Talkback mic, and assignable Dim or Mono functions. The Apollo X8 ships with LUNA, Universal Audio's recording application with deep Apollo integration, as well as the Realtime Analog Classics Plus plug-in bundle, and integrates seamlessly with Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton, and other major DAWs via Thunderbolt 3 (backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 1 and 2 on Mac).
