DJI Osmo Mobile 3 — Editorial Review
The DJI Osmo Mobile 3 was the gimbal that finally folded — a compact, foldable 3-axis smartphone stabilizer that solved the portability problem while keeping DJI's excellent tracking and battery life.

Foldable design, ActiveTrack 3.0, all-day battery
DPReview and Android Authority note the OM 3 folds down to fit easily in a bag (~405 g), pairs fantastic 3-axis stabilization with fast, sticky ActiveTrack 3.0 face tracking, and runs about 15 hours per charge — long enough that your phone usually dies first, so the pass-through can top it up. The intuitive one-handed grip and button layout make it easy to operate while talking to camera. In Tom's Tech Time's review — featured above — it's called a top smartphone gimbal for social video.
Honest cons
- No gimbal lock. The arms aren't lockable and it isn't weather-sealed, so handle it carefully.
- Asymmetric range. The folding design slightly limits pan/tilt range versus rigid gimbals.
- Mimo app vs native camera. Tracking needs DJI's Mimo app, which trails native camera apps on exposure and focus (especially Android).
- Older model. Newer OM versions add magnetic clamps and built-in extension rods.
Where this gimbal fits
- Social and travel creators who want stabilized phone video that packs small.
- Vloggers relying on sticky face tracking and long battery life.
- One-handed shooters who value the intuitive grip.
- Not rugged/weather-sealed needs, native-camera-app purists, or buyers wanting the latest clamp/rod conveniences.
