The Monoprice Monolith Encore C5 is a passive center channel speaker built around a 20mm silk dome tweeter mounted inside a purpose-designed waveguide. This waveguide isn't just cosmetic — it controls the tweeter's dispersion pattern so high frequencies reach a wider listening area, which is especially valuable in a center channel where multiple viewers need to hear clear dialogue from different seating positions. Flanking the tweeter are two 5.25-inch woofers engineered for a balance of low mass and high rigidity, allowing them to reproduce midrange vocal detail and deliver quick, controlled bass.

The cabinet itself is constructed from MDF with thick internal bracing, a design approach that suppresses the panel resonances responsible for muddy or colored sound in lesser enclosures. Inside, a carefully designed crossover network divides the audio signal between the tweeter and woofers to maintain a flat frequency response across the speaker's range. Connection is handled through 5-way binding posts on the rear panel, accommodating bare wire, banana plugs, and spade connectors. As a passive speaker, the Encore C5 requires an external amplifier or AV receiver, giving users control over their amplification choice.
