Frequently Asked Questions
Is this speaker cabinet passive or active?
The Peavey SP4 is an unpowered speaker cabinet, meaning it is passive and requires an external amplifier to operate.
What type of drivers are included in the Peavey SP4?
It features two 15-inch BWX Black Widow woofers with 4-inch voice coils for low frequencies and an RX 22 compression driver with Ferro fluid cooling for high frequencies.
Can this speaker be used with a bi-amplification setup?
Yes, the Peavey SP4 is designed to be bi-ampable, allowing separate amplification for different frequency ranges for potentially improved sound clarity and control.
What does "quasi-three-way" mean for this speaker?
"Quasi-three-way" indicates that the speaker handles frequency division similarly to a three-way system, but typically uses fewer crossovers or drivers to cover the full frequency spectrum compared to a true three-way design.
Is the speaker suitable for outdoor events?
While it is a sound reinforcement system, specific ingress protection ratings for outdoor use are not mentioned, so suitability for outdoor events would depend on environmental conditions and additional protection.
