Sony BDP-S470 3D Blu-ray Disc Player (2010)

The Sony BDP-S470 was one of the first wave of 3D-capable Blu-ray players when it launched in 2010, offering Full HD 1080p playback for both standard and 3D Blu-ray discs. Its Quick Start/Load function was a welcome improvement at the time, reducing the notoriously slow boot and disc-loading times that plagued earlier Blu-ray players. For viewers with large DVD collections, the built-in upscaling engine breathes new life into standard-definition discs by rendering them at near-HD quality through the HDMI output.

Connectivity is a strong suit of the BDP-S470, featuring HDMI, component, and composite video outputs alongside both optical and coaxial digital audio connections. Two USB ports handle media file playback and provide a slot for an optional Wi-Fi adapter, while the built-in Ethernet port ensures a reliable wired connection for accessing Sony's BRAVIA Internet Video streaming platform. While the streaming ecosystem has evolved significantly since 2010, the player remains a capable disc-based media hub for anyone seeking dependable Blu-ray and DVD playback with flexible output options.
