The HGST (now Western Digital) Ultrastar DC HC510 10TB hard drive delivers enterprise-class storage capacity in a standard 3.5-inch SATA form factor. Originally designed for 24/7/365 data center workloads, it features a 7200RPM spindle speed, 128MB cache, and a SATA 6Gb/s interface that provides reliable throughput for demanding read and write operations. The drive's HelioSeal technology—a hermetically sealed, helium-filled enclosure—reduces aerodynamic drag on the internal platters, which lowers operating temperatures and contributes to its 2.5-million-hour MTBF rating. It uses Conventional Magnetic Recording (CMR) with a 512-byte sector format, making it well suited for RAID arrays and ZFS pools where predictable write performance matters.

This renewed unit was previously deployed in data center servers for approximately five years before being professionally refurbished. The data was wiped to Department of Defense sanitization standards, and each drive has been fully tested and passed HGST's factory diagnostic software. It is compatible with a wide range of SATA-equipped systems, including NAS appliances, servers, desktop PCs, Macs, and CCTV/DVR surveillance setups. The drive ships as a bare unit—no mounting screws, cables, or accessories are included—and must be formatted on the target system before it will appear as available storage.
