Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HP 452679-B21 product?

The HP 452679-B21 is an Accelerated iSCSI Network Module (NM) 1-Port License, designed to enable or enhance iSCSI functionality on compatible HP hardware.

Is this a physical network module or a software license?

This product is explicitly a "License," meaning it activates or enables features on a physical network module that would be purchased separately.

How many ports does this license cover for iSCSI acceleration?

This license is specifically for a "1-Port," meaning it enables accelerated iSCSI features on a single port of a compatible network module.

What is the benefit of an "Accelerated iSCSI" feature?

Accelerated iSCSI features are designed to improve the performance of iSCSI storage traffic, potentially leading to faster data transfer and reduced latency in network storage operations.

Is this license compatible with all HP servers and network modules?

While it is an HP product, the description does not specify universal compatibility. It is crucial to verify if your specific HP network module and server platform are supported by this 452679-B21 license.

Strengths & Trade-offs

👍 Pros

The HP 452679-B21 provides an Accelerated iSCSI Network Module license, enhancing network storage capabilities.
This is a 1-Port license, offering a controlled and specific upgrade path for iSCSI acceleration.
Being an HP product, it ensures compatibility and integration within existing HP server and storage environments.
The "Accelerated" designation implies improved performance for iSCSI traffic, potentially reducing latency and increasing throughput.
Implementing iSCSI allows for block-level data transfer over standard Ethernet networks, simplifying storage area network deployments.

👎 Cons

This is solely a license for a network module, meaning the physical hardware module itself must be purchased separately.
The "1-Port" license limits the acceleration to a single iSCSI port, which might not be sufficient for environments requiring multiple accelerated connections.
The product title does not specify which HP network modules or server platforms are compatible with this particular license.
Without details on the specific acceleration technologies or performance metrics, assessing the real-world impact of the acceleration is difficult.
The product does not provide information on the length or type of support included with the license, which is important for long-term operational planning.
