Frequently Asked Questions
Can the LG 24LM520S-WU function as a PC monitor as well as a TV?
Yes — this is a core design intent of this unit. It accepts HDMI input for use as a standard external display while also operating as a standalone smart TV via WebOS 3.5. Switching between sources uses the remote or input selector. Resolution is 1366×768 (HD), so as a PC monitor it's fine for general use but not ideal for high-density text work.
What streaming services are available through WebOS 3.5?
WebOS 3.5 supports major platforms including Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu through its launcher. Note that WebOS 3.5 is a 2016-era platform — some newer apps may not be available or may have limited functionality compared to current smart TV operating systems.
How does the built-in Wi-Fi perform for streaming?
Built-in Wi-Fi enables direct connection to your home network for streaming without a media stick or external device. Bandwidth requirements for HD streaming are modest (5–10Mbps), well within reach of typical home Wi-Fi, and the LG's wireless radio handles this reliably.
Are the 5-watt speakers adequate for a room environment?
The dual 5W speakers provide stereo output suitable for a desktop or small bedroom setup. At this wattage, they produce acceptable dialogue clarity and music reproduction at moderate volume — but they won't fill a living room or deliver impactful bass. For serious audio, an external speaker or soundbar via HDMI ARC or headphone out is recommended.
What is the maximum resolution this display supports?
The 24LM520S-WU's native resolution is HD (1366×768). It will accept higher-resolution signals from connected sources but will downscale them to fit. Users expecting 1080p or 4K output should look at alternative models.
