Overview

The Microsoft Xbox One Chat Headset (model S5V-00007) is a straightforward, single-ear wired headset built specifically for voice communication during online gaming. It connects directly to the 3.5mm jack on compatible Xbox One controllers — including the original Xbox One Wireless controller and the newer white Xbox Wireless Controller — drawing its power from the controller so there are no batteries to manage. The adjustable boom microphone can be positioned to suit your preference, and inline controls let you toggle mute and adjust chat volume without navigating console menus.

Weighing just 0.45 ounces, this is one of the lightest gaming headsets available, making it easy to wear for hours without discomfort. The trade-off for that minimalism is that this is a chat-only mono headset — it handles voice communication in crystal-clear digital audio but does not deliver stereo game sound. For players who route game audio through their TV or a separate sound system and simply need a dependable mic and earpiece for party chat, this renewed headset is a practical and affordable choice that gets the job done without unnecessary complexity.
