Monoprice 113723 16AWG Plenum Speaker Wire

The Monoprice 113723 Nimbus Series 16AWG Plenum Speaker Wire is engineered for audio installations where fire safety compliance is non-negotiable. Carrying a CMP (Communications Multipurpose Plenum) rating, this cable is approved for installation inside walls, above drop ceilings, and through other plenum air-handling spaces in both residential and commercial buildings. This makes it suitable for permanent in-wall speaker wiring in offices, conference rooms, retail spaces, classrooms, and homes where building codes require plenum-rated cabling.

The wire itself consists of two 16-gauge conductors made from high-purity oxygen-free bare copper, which provides excellent electrical conductivity and resists corrosion over time. The red and black color coding on each conductor eliminates guesswork when maintaining correct speaker polarity across multiple runs. What sets this cable apart from many plenum-rated alternatives is its jacket material — Monoprice has selected a compound that is noticeably softer and more flexible than the stiff jackets commonly found on CMP-rated wire, reducing installation effort and making it easier to route through conduit and around corners without kinking.
