Overview

The SanDisk SDSSDE81-1T00-G25 Extreme PRO Portable SSD pairs NVMe-level performance with a compact, ruggedized enclosure designed for professionals who work outside the safety of a studio. With sequential read and write speeds up to 2000MB/s over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, it can transfer a full hour of 4K footage in minutes rather than the extended waits typical of hard drives or slower portable SSDs. The USB-C interface is the sole connection, though SanDisk includes an adapter cable for USB-A compatibility.

Durability is a core design priority. The forged aluminum chassis withstands drops up to 3 meters, while the IP65 rating means it can handle dust, sand, and splashing water — conditions common on outdoor shoots. At just 2.72 ounces and roughly the size of a thick credit card (2.28 x 4.36 x 0.41 inches), it disappears into a gear bag or jacket pocket. For data security, the drive includes 256-bit AES hardware encryption managed through SanDisk's SecureAccess software, allowing you to password-protect the entire drive without any performance penalty. The one caveat is that the full speed potential is only realized with a Gen 2x2 port; on older USB connections, throughput will cap at whatever the port supports.

Key Features

Powerful NVMe solid state performance featuring up to 2000MB/s read/write speeds.(1) (Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and & other factors. 1MB=1,000,000 bytes.)

A forged aluminum chassis acts as a heatsink to deliver higher sustained speeds in a portable drive that’s tough enough to take on any adventure.

Up to 3-meter drop protection and IP65 water and dust resistance(4), and a handy carabiner loop. (Previously rated for 2-meter drop protection and IP55 rating. Now qualified for the higher, stated specs.)

Help keep private content private with the included password protection featuring 256‐bit AES hardware encryption.(3)

Easily manage files and automatically free up space with the SanDisk Memory Zone app.(5) (Download and installation required.)

You need a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port to reach the advertised 2000MB/s. On older USB 3.0 or 3.1 ports, speeds will be limited by the port's maximum throughput.
Formatted capacity is typically around 930GB, as some space is used by the file system and the drive's encryption software.
