The Seagate SkyHawk AI 8TB (ST8000VEZ01) is an internal hard drive engineered from the ground up for AI-enabled network video recorders and surveillance systems. Its ImagePerfect AI firmware is designed to deliver zero dropped frames while simultaneously handling the heavy read/write demands of both video recording and AI analytics processing. The drive supports up to 64 HD video streams for recording alongside 32 additional AI streams for real-time deep learning analysis — a combination that would overwhelm standard surveillance or desktop hard drives. With a 7200 RPM spindle speed and 256MB cache, it provides the sustained throughput needed for these parallel workloads.

Reliability is where the SkyHawk AI distinguishes itself most clearly from consumer and standard surveillance drives. It carries an enterprise-class mean time between failures rating of 2 million hours and a workload rating of 550TB per year — more than three times the endurance of a typical surveillance HDD.
