Overview

The Synology RS822+ 4-Bay RackStation with 48TB of WD Red Plus storage is a purpose-built solution for small and medium businesses that need centralized, always-available network storage in a standard 1U rack chassis. Powered by an AMD Ryzen V1500B quad-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz and equipped with ECC memory, the unit is designed for reliability during continuous operation. The four pre-installed 12TB WD Red Plus drives are specifically engineered for NAS environments, offering CMR recording technology and a workload rating suited to 24/7 operation in multi-bay enclosures.

Synology's DiskStation Manager operating system provides a comprehensive suite of tools including snapshot replication, Active Backup for business endpoints, Synology Drive for cloud-like file sync, and support for Docker containers and virtual machines. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports allow link aggregation for improved throughput across multiple simultaneous connections. While the 2GB of base RAM handles basic file serving, organizations running multiple packages or heavier workloads will want to upgrade to the supported maximum of 32GB. The RS822+ also supports expansion via the RX418 unit, giving a clear upgrade path when storage demands grow beyond the initial 48TB configuration.
