Overview

The TP-Link RE815X AX5400 is a tri-band WiFi 6 range extender engineered to push reliable wireless coverage into the far corners of your home. Its three bands — one at 2.4 GHz (574 Mbps) and two at 5 GHz (2,402 Mbps each) — deliver a combined 5,400 Mbps of total bandwidth. The key advantage of the tri-band design is that one 5 GHz band can serve as a dedicated backhaul link between the extender and your router, leaving the remaining bands free for your devices. This architecture significantly reduces the throughput loss that is inherent to single- and dual-band extenders, resulting in a more responsive network for streaming, gaming, and video calls.

Four high-gain external antennas paired with six front-end modules and beamforming technology provide up to 2,800 sq. ft. of coverage for as many as 96 devices. The built-in gigabit Ethernet port lets you hardwire a desktop, gaming console, or smart TV for maximum reliability. When paired with a TP-Link OneMesh-compatible router, the RE815X supports smart adaptive roaming, automatically handing off your devices to the strongest signal as you move through the house. Setup is managed through the TP-Link Tether app, which also includes a signal strength indicator to help you find the optimal placement. An Access Point mode rounds out the feature set, allowing the RE815X to convert a wired Ethernet connection into a full WiFi network when a traditional extender setup is not needed.
