Overview

The Western Digital My Passport Wireless Pro 2TB is purpose-built for creative professionals who work on location. Its standout feature is the integrated SD 3.0 card reader, which lets photographers and videographers back up memory cards directly to the drive without a computer — simply insert the card, press a button, and the files copy over automatically. The drive creates its own 802.11ac Wi-Fi network, allowing you to wirelessly access, preview, and stream your media on phones, tablets, or laptops through the WD My Cloud app.

With a battery rated for up to 10 hours of continuous use, the Wireless Pro can last through a full day of shooting and offloading. The 2TB capacity accommodates thousands of RAW images or hours of HD video footage. When you are back at your desk, the drive connects via USB for faster wired transfers and functions as a standard external hard drive. While the mechanical drive is more susceptible to physical shock than solid-state alternatives and the unit is bulkier than basic portable drives, the combination of wireless capability, integrated card reader, and extended battery life makes it a uniquely capable tool for field-based media workflows.
