Expand Your Connectivity with Monoprice 5-in-1 USB-C Adapter
The Monoprice 5-in-1 USB-C to 4K HDMI Display and USB Hub Adapter greatly expands the capabilities of your USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 host computer. This adapter allows you to add a 4K@60Hz HDMI display, three USB 3.0 Type A ports, and a USB Type-C port with support for Power Delivery (PD) 3.0.
On systems supporting DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode, you can add a 4K@60Hz HDMI display to expand your system's desktop area or mirror the main host screen. For systems that support DP 1.2 Alt Mode, it supports up to 4K@30Hz resolution.
The three USB 3.0 Type A ports and the USB Type-C port support 5Gbps data transfer rates, which is more than 10 times faster than USB 2.0. One of the Type A ports can provide 1.5A/7.5W of charging power, while the USB Type-C port provides up to 100W of Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 to keep your laptop fully charged.
This plug 'n' play adapter requires no external drivers or special configuration and is compatible with USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 host systems running Windows and macOS operating systems, with support for DisplayPort Alt mode.
Specifications:
- Video Output: 4K@60Hz HDMI (DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode), 4K@30Hz (DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode)
- USB Ports:
- 3 x USB 3.0 Type A (5Gbps data transfer)
- 1 x USB Type-C (5Gbps data transfer, 100W Power Delivery PD 3.0)
- Charging: One Type A port provides 1.5A/7.5W charging power
- Compatibility: USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 host systems with DisplayPort Alt mode, Windows, macOS
- Installation: Plug 'n' play, no external drivers required
Key Features
Massive Expansion: This hub adapter features three USB 3.0 Type A and one Type C ports, so you can add extra peripherals, such as a keyboard, mouse, or an external drive. One of the Type A ports provides up to 1.5A/7.5W charging power, while the Type C port can provide up to 100W Power Delivery.
High Resolution 4K Display: On systems with support for DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode, you can add a single HDMI display at resolutions up to 4K@60Hz. For systems that support DP 1.2 Alt Mode, the maximum resolution is limited to 4K@30Hz.
Fast Data Transfers: The USB Type A ports support the USB 3.0 standard, which allows them to transfer data at up to 5Gbps, more than 10 times faster than the older USB 2.0 standard. The Type C port can also transfer at up to 5Gbps, when not providing Power Delivery.
USB Power Delivery: The USB Type C port charges through to your laptop and other connected devices with up to 100W Power Deliver 3.0 fast charging. The Fast Role Swap feature makes the host the power source and keeps everything going, if the power supply is accidentally disconnected.
Ease of Use: This plug 'n' play adapter requires no external drivers or special configuration. Just plug it in and use it.

Pros & Cons
👍 Pros
- Expands connectivity with three USB 3.0 Type A ports and one Type C port for various peripherals.
- One Type A port provides up to 1.5A/7.5W charging, while the Type C port offers up to 100W Power Delivery.
- Supports high-resolution 4K@60Hz display output on systems with DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode.
- Facilitates fast data transfers up to 5Gbps through its USB 3.0 Type A and Type C ports.
- Features a plug-and-play design, eliminating the need for external drivers or special configuration.
👎 Cons
- 4K display resolution is limited to 4K@30Hz on systems supporting only DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode.
- The 5Gbps data transfer speed for the Type C port is reduced when it is simultaneously providing Power Delivery.
- Charging power for the Type A ports is limited to 1.5A/7.5W, which may not be fast enough for some devices.
- The hub relies on the host system's DisplayPort Alt Mode support, which varies and may not always provide 4K@60Hz.
- The "Fast Role Swap" feature is specifically for power supply disconnection, not general hub errors or disconnections.
