Overview

The Monoprice 44434 2x1 HDMI 2.1 Switch is designed for users who need to connect two HDMI source devices—such as a gaming console and a streaming box—to a single HDMI input on their TV or monitor. Built to the HDMI 2.1 specification with a full 48Gbps bandwidth, it supports resolutions up to 8K@60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling and 4K@120Hz, ensuring that no visual fidelity is lost when switching between devices. HDCP 2.3 compliance means it handles the latest content protection requirements for streaming services and Ultra HD Blu-ray playback without handshake issues.

Beyond raw resolution support, this switch preserves the advanced features that modern displays and gaming consoles rely on. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Fixed-rate link Video Assessment (FVA), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) all pass through intact, maintaining the low-latency, tear-free gaming experience that next-gen consoles are built around. On the HDR side, it supports the full spectrum of formats including HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG, so picture quality is uncompromised regardless of the content source. Audio passthrough covers LPCM 7.1 channels, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS HD Master Audio, making it suitable for home theater setups where audio quality is a priority.

The product listing does not specify the power source. Many HDMI switches of this type draw power from the connected HDMI devices, but you should verify with the manufacturer if external power is needed for your setup.
It supports HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG passthrough, so it will not strip or downgrade HDR signals from any of the major formats.
This is a 2x1 switch, meaning you can connect two HDMI source devices and switch between them to output to one display.
The switch passes through LPCM 7.1CH, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS HD Master Audio. Dolby Atmos is typically carried over Dolby TrueHD, so it should pass through when the source and receiver support it.
